Tokyo Mate
Caretta Shiodome's free observation deck is a hidden spot where you can take in the Tokyo Bay night view from the 46F SKY VIEW, about 200m above ground. Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba, and Tokyo Bay all fit into one frame.

About the Caretta Shiodome Free Observation Deck
The Caretta Shiodome free observation deck is the SKY VIEW lookout on the 46th floor of Caretta Shiodome in Tokyo’s Shiodome district. From about 200m above ground, you can take in the Tokyo Bay night view for free, and locals know it as a hidden lookout spot.
When people think of Tokyo’s free observation decks, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building usually comes to mind first, but the Caretta Shiodome free observation deck’s strength is a bay view that takes in Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba, and Tokyo Bay all at once. The relatively small number of visitors is another big plus, since you can enjoy the view in quiet.

- Move down to B2F (if you came through the underground passage, you'll arrive at B2F directly).
- Inside the building, board the direct shuttle elevator to the 46th floor.
- You'll reach the Caretta Shiodome free observation deck in about 1 minute.
✔️ For a first visit, the Oedo Line's Shiodome Station is the easiest choice.
✔️ All nearby stations are connected by underground passages, so getting there is convenient even on rainy days.

Direct Elevator
The Caretta Shiodome free observation deck is on the 46th floor of Caretta Shiodome.
You cannot reach the 46F observation space with the regular elevators. You have to use the B2F direct shuttle elevator (the observation elevator) to go up.

The View from Caretta Shiodome SKY VIEW
The biggest draw of the Caretta Shiodome free observation deck is that the view stretches out over Tokyo Bay, not over a forest of skyscrapers. From the 46F SKY VIEW at Caretta Shiodome, you get an open night view over the bay that’s different from the usual observation deck.

To the right, Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba, and the Hama-rikyu Gardens come into view all at once; to the left, the cityscape continues across Tsukiji and Kachidoki.

There are also benches by the windows, so it’s easy to sit for a while and enjoy the scenery. This isn’t just a place to take a photo and head right back down — it’s a space made for slowly enjoying the night view with a partner, friends, or family.

The most beautiful time is from about 30 minutes before sunset through the blue hour (about 20 minutes after sunset). The sky tones and city lights come alive at the same time, which gives the most satisfying photos.
⚠️ There’s some glass reflection. For night shots, holding the lens close to the window and adjusting the angle reduces the reflection.

Nearby Combination Courses
The Caretta Shiodome free observation deck is great as a standalone visit, but pairing it with the surrounding area makes the whole evening more rewarding.
After seeing the 46F SKY VIEW, you can move naturally into a meal, a walk, or another night-view course, which makes it an especially good fit for an evening itinerary in Tokyo. The same building has observation-style restaurants on the 46th and 47th floors, where you can dine while looking out over Rainbow Bridge and the Tokyo Bay night view.
It’s also popular for anniversary dinners, Tokyo date courses, and the last evening of a trip.
