Haneda Airport Arrival Guide: Suica, Limousine Bus & Getting to Central Tokyo
Tokyo Mate
Landed at Haneda Airport? This single guide covers everything you need — from withdrawing cash and getting a Suica card to booking a limousine bus into the city.
Tokyo starts at the airport. The moment you step through arrivals, you need cash for transport card top-ups, a Suica or Pasmo card for the trains, and a plan to reach your hotel. Follow these steps in order and your Haneda arrival will be seamless.

STEP 1. Withdraw Cash (Finding an ATM)
Once you clear immigration, prepare some cash first. Japan still has many cash-only shops, and transport card top-ups mostly require cash.
Seven Bank ATM (found inside 7-Eleven stores and at airports) is the most reliable option for international cards. Here's where to find ATMs at Haneda:
| ATM Bank | Terminal 3 (International) | Terminal 2 (International) | Terminal 1 (Domestic) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seven Bank | 2F Arrival Lobby | 2F Arrival Lobby | 1F North Arrivals |
| AEON Bank | None | None | 1F North Arrivals |

STEP 2. Get a Transport Card (Suica/Pasmo)
With cash in hand, the next essential is a transport card for Tokyo's trains and buses.

Which Transport Card Is Right for You?
| Type | Welcome Suica (Physical) | Pasmo (Physical) | Mobile Suica/Pasmo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best For | Short-term visitors (28 days) | Long-term travelers | iPhone users (Highly Recommended) |
| Pros | No deposit Credit card purchase OK | Balance refundable (with fee) No expiry | Most convenient for top-up & payment No deposit, no expiry |
| Cons | No balance refund Valid 28 days only | 500 yen deposit Cash purchase only | Requires Hyundai Card for payment (Apple Pay) |
Bottom line: If you have an iPhone, go with Mobile Suica — no question. If you need a physical card, we recommend the Welcome Suica since it has no deposit and can be purchased with a credit card. (Just don't overcharge it — the remaining balance can't be refunded!)

Where to Buy Physical Cards (Terminal 3)
- Welcome Suica: Exit arrivals and turn left toward the Tokyo Monorail boarding area — use the automated ticket machines (credit card accepted)
- Pasmo: Exit arrivals and turn right toward the Keikyu Line boarding area — use the automated ticket machines (cash only)

STEP 3. Getting to Central Tokyo
With your transport card ready, it's time to head to your hotel. Choose the best option based on your travel style and luggage.
Which Transport Option Is Right for You?
| Type | Train / Monorail | Limousine Bus |
|---|---|---|
| Pros | Cheap and fast, no traffic jams | No transfers, luggage stored below, hotel drop-off available |
| Cons | Hauling luggage through transfers, crowded at rush hour | More expensive, risk of traffic delays |
| Best For | Light packers, budget travelers | Heavy luggage, families with kids or elderly |
Option 1: Keikyu Line (Turn right from arrivals)
Take the Shinagawa-bound train. Transfer to the JR Yamanote Line for easy access to Shinjuku, Shibuya, Tokyo Station, and more. All train types (Local, Express, Limited Express, Rapid Express, Airport Express) stop at Shinagawa.
Option 2: Tokyo Monorail (Turn left from arrivals)
Take the Hamamatsucho-bound monorail. It costs more (520 yen) but offers ocean views along the route. Free for JR Pass holders.

Option 3: Limousine Bus (Most Convenient)
- Tickets can be purchased at the ticket counter or automated machines on the 2F arrival lobby. Book through Klook for QR code boarding — no ticket exchange needed.
