Ivorish originally gained popularity in Fukuoka, but the Fukuoka location has since closed, and the brand now operates exclusively out of its Shibuya shop.
We heard the rumors about how popular this brunch cafe is, so we arrived about 15 minutes before opening. Luckily, there were only 2 groups ahead of us. You simply write your name on the table set up outside the shuttered entrance and wait. By the time the doors opened, 3 more groups had lined up behind us, making it 6 groups total.
Right at 11:00 AM, the shutters roll up and guests are seated in order. The warm, woody interior greets you immediately. Despite being underground, the high ceilings keep the space from feeling cramped at all. There is an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs at work, and comfortable sofa seating is available too. (47 seats total)
Ivorish Menu
The name "Ivorish" is a combination of "Ivory," representing the color of French toast, and "Cherish," meaning to treasure something precious.
True to their devotion to French toast, Ivorish offers a wide variety of French toast sets. They also have a To-go menu, so on a nice day, you could grab your order and enjoy it at Parco's rooftop park (10th floor) or Miyashita Park.
Our Order: Lemon Custard French Toast & Garden Salad
We ordered the Lemon Custard French Toast, a Shibuya-exclusive item, along with the Garden Salad. The French toast was pillowy soft, and the combination of lemon custard cream, fresh cream, ice cream, and pistachios came together beautifully. The refreshing lemon syrup added a bright, zesty kick that made it even more delicious. The Garden Salad was loaded with bacon, making it the perfect sweet-and-savory companion to the French toast.
