Tokyo Mate
Shibuya Miyashita Park Bon Odori 2026 takes place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September. The event runs from 13:00 to 21:00, and the bon odori, the main part of the program, is scheduled for 17:50-19:20 on both days. Entry is free.
The official name is SHIBUYA MIYASHITA PARK BON DANCE 2026. Alongside traditional bon odori there are DJs, live music and dance performances, plus festival food like yakisoba and yakitori and a festival market.

What bon odori is, and what sets Miyashita Park’s apart
Shibuya Music Culture × Traditional Dance Festival
Bon odori (盆踊り) is a dance that grew out of the Obon custom of welcoming and then sending off the spirits of ancestors. Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs describes bon odori as a folk event that developed from ancestor memorial rites and says it has also become a festival anyone can join and dance at.
SHIBUYA MIYASHITA PARK BON DANCE adds Shibuya's music, dance and fashion culture to that traditional bon odori.
The first edition was held in September 2023, which makes 2026 its fourth year. It started with the aim of creating a festival where people visiting Shibuya, overseas tourists included, could all join in together.
What marks out the Miyashita Park bon odori is that traditional dancing shares the program with DJ sets, live music and contemporary dance performances. There are food stalls and a fashion and art market too. On the fourth floor of Miyashita Park, right in the middle of Shibuya, you get a traditional Japanese festival and today's Shibuya culture in one place.
