Shinjuku Udon Shin: Menu, Waiting, Ticket & Paid Reservation Guide (2026)
Tokyo Mate
Shinjuku Udon Shin is an udon specialist that cuts and boils the noodles after you order. Here are the bukkake, kake, shoyu, and kamatama udon menu and prices, the on-site waiting ticket, the 2,000-yen-per-person paid reservation, and the waiting and cash-only payment, organized for 2026.

Shinjuku Udon Shin: Handmade Udon Cut & Boiled to Order
Udon Shin (うどん慎) is an udon specialist in Yoyogi, south of Shinjuku Station. It opened in 2011 and was selected for the Tabelog Udon Top 100 in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2024.
🍜 The noodle principles Udon Shin emphasizes are uchitate, kiritate, and yudetate.
✅ Uchitate 打ちたて (freshly made)
They receive dough made from wheat suited to udon every day and rest it overnight. After adjusting the water and salt content, they make only the amount of noodles they will sell that day.
✅ Kiritate 切りたて (freshly cut)
Rather than cutting the noodles in advance, they cut the dough each time an order comes in. It takes a bit longer to prepare, but it minimizes the flour dusted onto the noodles, bringing out a smooth, springy texture.
✅ Yudetate 茹でたて (freshly boiled)
After you order, they boil the noodles in a large pot filled with plenty of water. They check the noodle condition, which changes with temperature and humidity, and adjust the boiling time appropriately each day.
🍜 The broth also differs from typical Sanuki udon.
Instead of a strong iriko (sardine) broth, they use a Kansai-style dashi that blends several kinds of dried fish such as muroaji (mackerel) with Kushiro kombu. To bring out the noodles' delicate flavor, they don't age the broth for long. For the broth they use very soft purified water with minerals and impurities filtered out, so the ingredients' taste and aroma come through cleanly.

Udon Shin Waiting Ticket, Paid Fast Pass & Waiting
Udon Shin runs an on-site waiting ticket, a free numbered ticket issued at the shop, and TableCheck's paid Fast Pass. Neither method secures a seat in advance or lets you enter immediately.
The on-site waiting ticket is used to register your wait and check the estimated time, and the paid Fast Pass gives you priority over regular waiting customers once a seat opens after your reserved time.
| Type | ① On-site waiting ticket | ② TableCheck paid Fast Pass |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | ¥2,000 per person |
| How to use | Take a numbered ticket in front of the shop | Specify your visit time online |
| Times | Issued around 9:00-18:00 | 11:00-21:00, on the hour |
| Main function | Register wait, check estimated time | Priority when a seat opens |
| Secures a seat | No | No |
| Immediate entry | Not guaranteed | Not guaranteed |
| Extra wait | Possible | Possible |
① How to use the on-site waiting ticket
Per the official Instagram, the on-site waiting ticket is issued from around 9:00 a.m. to around 6:00 p.m. When you register at the tablet at the entrance, your customer number and estimated wait time are shown, and a waiting ticket with a printed QR code comes out.
※ Depending on the day's crowds and how quickly the noodles sell out, ticket issuing may end early.
🍜 How to use the on-site waiting ticket
- Issue a waiting ticket at the tablet at the entrance.
- Check your wait status with the QR code on the printed ticket.
- Hold your ticket and stand at the back of the queue in front of the shop.
- Enter in the order of the line, following staff guidance.

📌 It is not a system that calls people in waiting-ticket-number order. (As of June 2026.) After getting a ticket, you have to line up again in front of the shop.
Actual entry proceeded in the order people lined up on site. The way it's run can change with the visit day and crowds, so prioritize the on-site staff's guidance. The waiting ticket is closer to a tool for managing the number of people waiting and the estimated time than a numbered ticket that secures a seat. So rather than going far after getting a ticket, it's safer to check the QR screen, the line in front of the shop, and staff guidance together.

② TableCheck paid Fast Pass
Udon Shin's online reservation is not a reservation that secures a seat in advance. It is a paid Fast Pass where, if you arrive at your reserved time, you get priority over on-site waiting customers.
In other words, even if you buy a 1:00 p.m. Fast Pass, a seat isn't cleared for you at 1:00 p.m., so you may wait until one opens, and when a seat becomes available you're guided in ahead of the regular line.

✅ How to cut down your wait at Udon Shin
Just getting an on-site waiting ticket doesn't actually shorten your wait. To cut the wait without spending money, the most realistic options are to do an open run before the 11:00 a.m. opening, or to visit when there are fewer people waiting by avoiding lunch and dinner times.
✔️ If you want to enter in the first time slot
Arrive before the 11:00 a.m. opening, get a waiting ticket, and check the line in front of the shop and staff guidance. If you only get the ticket first and then leave your spot for a long time, your actual entry order can be delayed.
✔️ If your travel schedule is fixed
Using the TableCheck paid Fast Pass, you can get priority in your chosen time slot. Just note that the seat and entry time aren't confirmed, it costs ¥2,000 per person on top of the meal cost, and it isn't refunded even for cancellation or schedule change.

- Half portion: ¥100 off
- 1.5 portions: ¥100 extra

✔️ Using the base udon
Since the more toppings, the higher the price, you can add only the toppings or à la carte tempura you want to a base udon. Add ¥590 shrimp tempura to a ¥950 bukkake udon and you can enjoy udon and tempura together for ¥1,540 total.

Udon Shin FAQ Before Visiting
Q. Can I reserve at Shinjuku Udon Shin?
You can buy a ¥2,000-per-person paid Fast Pass on TableCheck. It is not a reservation that secures a seat; after you arrive at the specified time, you get priority over regular waiting customers once a seat opens. The meal cost is separate, and there may be a wait when it's crowded.
Q. From what time can I get an Udon Shin waiting ticket?
Per the official Instagram, it's issued from around 9:00 a.m. to around 6:00 p.m. It may end early depending on the day's crowds and how quickly the noodles sell out. Even with a ticket, you have to line up again in front of the shop, following on-site staff guidance.
Q. Can I pay by card at Udon Shin?
Cash only. Credit cards, transit e-money, and QR code payments cannot be used.
Q. Can two people share one bowl of udon?
Per the official guidance, two or more people cannot share one bowl of udon. Each person who visits must order one udon menu.
Shinjuku Udon Shin can have a long wait, but the springy noodles cut and boiled right after you order make it an impressive udon spot. Visit by doing an open run or avoiding mealtimes, and adding the à la carte tempura you want to a base udon is a good way to adjust the price and portion.
