Tokyo Hello Kitty Free Capsule Toy Event 2026: Where & When
Tokyo Mate
A free Hello Kitty event is happening in Tokyo in the summer of 2026. You check Tokyo travel manners and culture through a short quiz, then draw a capsule toy and can receive a Hello Kitty original cooling towel or a manner card.
In July it runs at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building South Observatory in Shinjuku, and in August at the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center, so you can take part at whichever location is closer to your travel dates.

How to Take Part in the Hello Kitty Capsule Toy
No application or paid reservation is needed. Once you arrive at the venue, you just answer the quiz and survey on your own smartphone.
STEP 1. Check the Tokyo travel information
On GO TOKYO's How to "Hello Tokyo" page, you can check the culture and manners that are useful to know while traveling in Tokyo.
Situations you run into often while traveling are laid out with Hello Kitty illustrations: throwing away trash, taking photos, using public transport, lining up, and eating at restaurants.

STEP 2. Answer the quiz and survey
Open the event participation page on your smartphone and answer the quiz and survey. If a question is difficult, you can go back and check the GO TOKYO travel information you looked at earlier.
STEP 3. Scan the QR code at the machine
When you finish the quiz and survey, the QR code you need for the event is displayed. Scan the code at the capsule toy machine in the venue and you get one draw.
- ✔️ You need your own smartphone.
- ✔️ Participation is free.
- ✔️ One try per person.
- ✔️ The event is for travelers visiting Tokyo.
The Hello Kitty Goods You Can Get
When you draw a capsule toy, you get one of the following two items depending on the result.
① Hello Kitty original cooling towel
A cooling towel with a Hello Kitty design that you can use while traveling around Tokyo in summer.
The capsule contains an exchange ticket for the cooling towel. You show the ticket to the venue staff and exchange it for the actual item.

② Hello Kitty original manner card
A card with Tokyo travel manners drawn as Hello Kitty illustrations. There are three kinds in total, and you receive one of the three depending on your capsule result.

✅ A Hello Kitty sticker as an extra when you post on SNS
If you post a photo taken at the venue's photo spot on SNS with the hashtag, you can also receive a Hello Kitty original sticker.
- Hashtag: #hellotokyocapsule
- SNS you can use: Instagram / X / Facebook
Show the posted screen to the venue staff and you receive the sticker after they check it. Stickers may run out earlier than scheduled once the prepared stock is gone.

Sometimes what stays with you longest from a trip is a small pleasure you ran into by chance, more than the famous sights.
I hope the cute moment with Hello Kitty and the little gift inside the capsule stay with you as a special memory from this Tokyo trip.
