🌸 Ueno Park Through the Seasons
Ueno Park looks completely different depending on the season — it is one of Tokyo's go-to spots for seasonal scenery.
🌸 Spring (March–April) — Tokyo’s Top Cherry Blossom Spot
Around 1,200 cherry trees — Somei Yoshino, Yamazakura, and more — burst into bloom, making it one of the city's premier cherry blossom spots. You can walk under the tunnel of blossoms along Sakura-dori, see the bonbori lantern illumination at night, and browse more than 50 food stalls. The Ueno Sakura Matsuri runs from mid-March through early April each year.

🌿 Summer (June–August) — Shinobazu Pond Lotus Flowers
The lotus blooms on Shinobazu Pond peak in late July, creating a beautiful waterside landscape alongside the cherry blossoms as one of the park's signature scenes. The best time to visit is early morning when the flowers open.
🍂 Autumn (October–November) — Ginkgo and Autumn Foliage
The ginkgo-lined avenues and autumn foliage throughout the park put on a colorful show. This is also when the Tokyo National Museum and the National Museum of Western Art concentrate their major fall special exhibitions.
🎄 Winter (November–December) — Christmas Market
A European-style Christmas market sets up at Hakamagoshi Square. Glühwein, German sausages, and illuminations — a great addition to any winter Tokyo trip.
